Note:
Today was an FOMC statement day, and the market behaved pretty much as expected. Leading up to the release, things got extremely slow—no real movement, and definitely not many clean setups. As the statement came out, volatility spiked sharply, but it didn’t last long. The market quickly became choppy again, especially during the press conference.
It was one of those days where structure was hard to read, and even when setups appeared, it was difficult to trust them. There simply weren’t many good opportunities, and most of what showed up felt forced or too risky given the news-driven conditions.
Biggest Lesson:
Major news events like FOMC days often create two extremes—either no movement or highly volatile spikes that are hard to trade around. Unless a setup is exceptionally clear and structured, it’s often better to stay out or trade with extreme caution. Patience pays off on days like this.
