Winning Day - Total Net PnL: +$2,170.40
Note:
The day started with a clear downtrend structure, and for quite some time, it looked like the broader downtrend would push for a new low. But when that never materialized, I adjusted my read to a tighter downtrend structure with two clear legs down. Eventually, prices reversed into an uptrend, which slowly evolved into a very flat and choppy spike and channel formation.
Despite the sluggish and indecisive market, I did manage to take a trade today, betting on the continuation of the upward momentum. It’s been several days since my last winning trade, so putting a green day on the board felt good, even if it wasn’t a home run.
I entered a second entry long on my secondary chart (EOD unchecked). It was a somewhat risky setup—mainly because the EMA didn’t fully hold, and the 2EL signal bar had its body partially below it. However, when I looked at the main 2000 tick chart, I could see that this setup also acted as a higher low confirming the previous second entry long. The tighter uptrend channel still needed a new high, and although we’d already seen one attempt, price pushing back above the EMA gave me enough confidence to take the trade.
What also helped was a strong signal bar forming on my end-of-day chart, reinforcing my conviction. I went for a modest 8-tick target, considering the low ATR and generally slow pace of the market. Sadly, I got poor fills on six accounts and only managed to get 5 ticks on those. Still—a win is a win, and I’m happy I executed on a valid setup instead of hesitating.
Tomorrow is the session before the July 4th holiday, and if today is any indication, it might be wise to sit it out and recharge. The market is slow and choppy, and sometimes capital—and mental energy—is best preserved.
Biggest Lesson:
Adaptability is key—especially on slow, tricky days. When the broader structure doesn’t play out as expected, being able to shift perspective and reframe the trend can open up opportunities. Today reminded me that even in choppy markets, a valid setup with solid context can still be worth taking. Execution beats hesitation every time.
