Note:
ot to the chart a bit late after work. RTH had been in a range most of the session with a slight bearish imbalance. After one more push down failed to continue, price moved back above the EMA. A clean Failed Second Entry Short (F2ES) set up; I took it and kept the target at 8 ticks since ATR was barely above 2 — it worked.
Price stayed inside the range for the rest of the session. After another failed attempt to break below the range, we got another F2ES. It wasn’t as textbook as the first, and I hesitated — partly because I was already green and didn’t want to give it back — so I skipped it. That was a mistake; given the context, I should have pulled the trigger.
Finally, I got a trade. About time. This is the mindset I need more often: when I expect the setup and the context is clear, I just need to pull the trigger.
Biggest Lesson:
After a win, I tend to tighten my criteria and hesitate. Don’t let “protect the green” override clear context. If a setup meets my rules — even if it isn’t picture-perfect — execute with defined risk instead of second-guessing.
