Notes:

I got to the chart about an hour later than usual due to daylight saving time in Norway. By then, the market had already formed two bear legs down with a small consolidation between them. A strong bullish bar appeared, and I entered long, betting on a possible MTR after the two legs down — also a bit of a failed breakout (FBO) from that small consolidation. My plan was to aim for 2R since there was room up to the RTH open, but we had to push through resistance from the earlier consolidation. Because of that, I decided to take both contracts off at 1R. Right after I exited, the market suddenly shot up, likely on news.

Prices reached the top of a range near the RTH open and stalled for quite some time. There wasn’t much to do there. I expected a pullback back into the range, so I was hesitant to buy. But prices just kept crawling slowly upward, and I couldn’t find a clean entry. After the final bull leg formed a wedge, prices took a sharp dive into the session close.

Biggest Lesson:

I think my read of the context is decent, but I need to work on holding trades longer for 2R. Just because prices stall doesn’t mean they won’t reach my initial target.
