Notes:
When I opened my chart, the market had already made a bearish leg down and had just completed a second leg to a new low. A strong bullish bar then formed, creating a second entry buy setup with a great signal bar — also somewhat of a lower high MTR. I took the trade.
Prices reached about halfway to my target and then pulled back to the previous lows. I bought one more contract at the low, betting that the market was in a range and that the overnight gap would be closed. I once again tried to add more contracts as prices went lower and eventually got out at breakeven after a long time in the trade.
After that, the market made a second leg up, but I didn’t want to go long again today. In hindsight, I should have. I hesitated to buy when prices pushed above the EMA because I still remembered that strong, painful move down earlier in the session. But in reality, that move was a Major Trend Reversal and should have been traded as such — I was simply afraid the bears would take control again.
To be honest, seeing the price action unfold exactly as expected just proves that it isn’t random. I need to trust my read and stay calm, even through deep or extended pullbacks. Like today, after two hours I started doubting we’d ever get back up to the overnight open to fill the gap — but that’s exactly what the market ended up trying to do.
Biggest Lesson:
Trust the context, not the fear. When the price action aligns with the expectation, follow through with confidence. Pullbacks don’t always mean failure — often, they’re just part of the story.
