Notes:

When I got to the chart, we had two strong bearish legs down. I drew a range, and we soon got a nice bearish bar rejecting both the EMA and the previous support, which had turned into resistance. I took the short. In hindsight, the range wasn’t fully confirmed yet, but the resistance level was clear — and it came into play later.

The trade reached 1R fairly quickly, but after getting shaken out of trades early the past two days, I was determined to hold this one longer. After a big and scary pullback, the market finally reached 2R — at least 2R relative to the actual risk. It was a good reminder that pullbacks aren’t necessarily reversals. They’re often just profit-taking before the market retests the level again, so there’s no reason to panic — even though it definitely feels scary in the moment.

After prices made a new low, we got a great bullish bar forming a Higher Low Major Trend Reversal. I took the trade. It almost reached 2R, but instead we got a strong bearish reversal bar. I moved my stop loss to the 1R mark and got stopped out for a 7.5-point profit — which was fine, considering prices were right around yesterday’s high. Prices eventually did hit my 2R target after a long time, but honestly, I’m not sure I could have held it that long.

Toward the end of the session, the market slowed down a lot and moved sideways. Later, prices broke out of the sideways action and tried to reverse back down, but the bears struggled to gain traction. After that, I ended my session.

Biggest Lesson:

Today reinforced how important it is to trust the trade plan and stay patient. Pullbacks and hesitation bars can easily shake me out, but the bigger picture often plays out just as expected. I’m learning to read the struggle between bulls and bears more clearly — and to end my session once the structure loses clarity.
