Notes:
When I got to the chart, price action was messy and choppy. After some time, it became clear we were in a trading range. From near the top of the range, a huge bearish bar formed and dropped all the way to the bottom. Right after that, we got a great bullish reversal bar rejecting the range low. I took the trade — a High 1 Buy with multiple tests of support.
The trade stalled around the middle of the range, forming several dojis, and I got shaken out. I hate when that happens, but I know these kinds of “scary” bars are often meant to shake weak traders out of good positions. I threw in the towel, but looking back, I should have stayed in — the trade would have easily hit my initial 1R target, and we got a bullish breakout out of the range afterward.
A bullish trend formed, just like yesterday. It didn’t offer any pullbacks to enter on, so it was another day of being “Always In Long,” where you basically just have to enter on any bar. Prices kept climbing and eventually hit the measured move of the range. After that, the market went into a super tiny range for almost two hours — completely untradable.
Biggest Lesson:
Second day in a row I got scared out of a trade too early. Yesterday I exited with 1R when it went on to reach 6R, and today I exited at breakeven just because a bear bar showed up. I still need to work on staying committed to the trades I take and not being afraid of them turning into losers. The good thing is that my read of what’s expected has been solid — I just need to hold through the scary pullbacks and not let the market shake me out.
