Notes:
When I got to the chart, there was potential for a bull trend. After two strong bull breakout bars, I entered long, betting that we could get a trend going. But prices stalled for a long time. My first target at +5 pts was hit, but the market didn’t push higher, so I took the second contract off at +2 pts since it was clearly stalling.
After that, the market dropped lower and looked like it wanted to close the ON gap, but it never fully reached it. Instead, it formed a double bottom with bar 3. Since the market had stalled at this level multiple times, I took a chance and entered long again — betting on a double bottom at the range low after a bear leg and wedge bottom.
This one hit my +5 pts quickly. But it stalled right at the EMA, so I took the second contract off at breakeven. The market then tested the bottom of the range again. When we got a nice bull bar after a bear breakout, I took the FBO long, still betting on a range day.
My first target at +10 pts was hit pretty quickly. I wanted to hold the second contract for the top of the range, but as soon as prices reached the middle of the range, it stalled. That area had clearly been a sell zone earlier, so I took off the second contract at +10 pts as well. A decent pullback happened right after, so exiting there was the right decision.
After the pullback, the market made another attempt to reach the top of the range but failed again. It went right back down to the range low, and prices spent the next hour crawling along the bottom of the range in a really choppy, frustrating fashion. Just slow, messy movement around support with no clean entries.
Biggest Lesson:
Today was a good reminder that once I get my clean scalps from the range low or range high, I don’t need to force anything else. The more the market chops around the middle, the less edge there is. Stay patient, take the trades with real context, and leave the rest alone.
